I prefer to have my DB living inside /Users directory, instead of /var or /opt. That's what we are going to achive. The goal is to make MySQL DBs drop here /Users/DB/mysql.

Since we installed MacPorts, let's put it to good use and install Apache2 and PHP5 to replace versions bundled with OS X.

To make PHP database aware and more useful, we will be installing Mysql, PostgreSQL, SQLite and PEAR as extensions, along with many others built by default by MacPorts.

MacPorts is a great project that brings a bunch open source application to the Mac world. It works like the ports system in FreeBSD, OpenBSD or NetBSD, <insert other flavors here>.

Para mim, que tenho o lado criativo adormecido é excelente. Claro que o devido crédito pelo trabalho deve ser atribuído, e as referências ao autor devem ser mantidas.

Tem templates para todos os gostos, por isso, vale a pena dar lá um salto, nem que seja apenas para apreciar.

One of the companies i work for integrates a SAMBA PDC to manage the network domain logons. We have around thirty users, that want to logon into their Windows workstations and have the shares available. So we needed logon scripts for each one of them.

We implemented groups for policy enforcement. Making a custom logon script for each user wasn't an option, so we created a little custom script in Python to generate the logon scripts.
