iColours.ca Cover Installed And Looking Good

After all i managed to get the smiley on the MacBook sooner than Sunday!

It wasn't hard to get it done, just a bit scary. I always get worried opening laptops. Anyway, it was a rather easy process.

Part one (The need for patience):

Hard Spot

The worst part was removing the monitor screws, they are really hard to access with a normal screwdriver. I believe one can find a small bended screwdriver.

With some time, patience and careful, it will eventually get loose. I advise wrapping some tape to the screwdriver to avoid scratching the MacBook on the sides.

Part two (The scary one):

Loose Back Cover

With the screws loose it's time to relase the back cover. As instructed from the iColours.ca video tutorials, use a thin plastic card to release it. Just release the sides and the bottom part, then remove it. Be careful not to let the card slip to the monitor surface.

Opened MacBook

There are no wires attached to the MacBook back cover, no worries.

Part Three (Getting it on):

Get in on

This is the easy part. Carefully remove the white filter and place your new thingy! iColours.ca has a lot of them, i'm sure you will find one you like.

After placing it, fix it with some adhesive tape products and place the white filter previously removed on top of it. Fix it with tape again and close it up.

Part Four (The nice result):

Result

The original smiley was a bit too yellow for me, so i added the "blue flames" on top. It came out a nice effect but it's a bit hard to notice if the backlight is on or off. I didn't bother to get the screws back in, maybe someday when i find an appropriate key.

Part Five (Friends commenting... sheeesh):

Beer

Vitorino doesn't like it and now calls me "tuning", which is rather offensive :P and Edgar thinks i should have picked yellow. But he is a pink loving kind of guy and a Vista lover, so not to be taken seriously! They are nice guys anyway :)
